About us
Level Up Nerd Apparel is about merging our love of all things nerdy and of fiber arts, which we believe go together like Leia and Han, Wash and his dinosaurs, Comic Con and cosplay, or dungeons and dragons.
We believe in high quality, detail-oriented designs for all fans to love. All our finished products are locally handmade, with the hopes you will cherish your nerdy accessories for many years (and many conventions) to come.
We also realize that few things bring more pleasure to crafters than to make their own finished products. This is why we provide you with the tools to make your own - whether you're a beginning or a long-time yarn veteran. Nothing brings us more joy than seeing someone learn a yarn craft to express their fandom and see it blossom into a lifelong hobby.
Our mission is to make the world nerdier, one hat at a time, so pick up a crochet hook or knitting needles and join us in this adventure!

Lara likes to crochet and knit in front of Netflix, where she constantly finds more sources of inspiration than she has time to do anything with. This results in a never ending to-do list of pattern creations that will keep her busy for a nice long while.
When she is not in the vicinity of yarn or dappling with science, she enjoys relaxing with some friends around a board game or the occasional game of Magic the Gathering, all the while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
Lara lives in Ithaca, NY, with her husband/test subject/#1 fan Foster and their cats Bumi (named after the earth-bending King, of course) and Odin (named after the Norse All-Father with the mystical eye).
Melissa Dickson - Crafting Minion
Melissa met Lara as scientists, and the two bonded over their passion for nerdy things and love of yarn. When Melissa found out about Level Up Nerd Apparel she was excited to be able to join the team and help Lara bring to life her unique and crafty designs.
When Melissa isn't stitching up all the nerdy apparel she enjoys working on her cross stitch projects, creating more beautiful designs with threads. While crafting is a huge part of her life, Melissa also enjoys playing board games and Magic the Gathering with friends. She also thoroughly enjoys a good book and graphic novels.
Melissa lives in Beltsville, MD with her husband (and avid comic book reader) Sean and their rambunctious cat, Rebel (named for never listening to them and after the rebel pilots)
